ANCHOR - Reeperbahn Festival International Music Award
Even if Jade Bird has just started her career, nevertheless, the young singer-songwriter from London already sings like a pro.
She discharges a whole cornucopia of live experience on her impressive, highly diverse EP “Something American” (Glassnote Entertainment Group LLC). Sometimes, her combative songs include edgy guitars with sixties appeal, like in “Good Woman”. Likewise, she also writes melodic chorical songs like in “Cathedral” which follows the US American indie tradition. It has a quality reminiscent of the Canadian artist Feist. Just like the indie queen, Jade Bird has a crystal clear, breathtakingly firm voice. In “Grinnin’ in Your Face”, one cannot overhear that she was inspired by her idol Nina Simone. A young musician who stands out from the monotony of the other female musicians. And a great, persuading personality who also shows her political colour.
