For six years Albin Lee Meldau was part of the soul band Magnolia where he played various instruments and also sang background vocals. He and the band parted ways in 2015. Meldau wanted to strike out on his own and didn’t want to fit into a band anymore. He used to be interested in retro pop, now he focuses on his own stories and his unique, modern sound.
It’s remarkable that the 29 year old singer and guitarist from Gothenburg hadn’t started his solo career earlier. His captivating voice reminds of Jeff Buckley and of Antony when tuning into a high pitch. His first solo EP called “Lovers” and released in 2016 comprises four songs that show off his stunning voice and tell stories full of brooding anger paired with dry humor.
