Tony Visconti

Music producer

When David Bowie’s album „Blackstar“ came out at the end of 2015, Tony Visconti was talked of because he co-produced and mixed Bowie’s last record. Who else? Since Bowie released “Space Oddity” in 1969, the New York-based producer has always been part of the most decisive moments in Bowie’s career. But Visconti was also the important person behind T. Rex’ recordings.

He worked for Paul McCartney and U2 and gave the careers of Thin Lizzy and the Sparks a push. Born 1944 in Brooklyn, he moved to London in 1967. Since the 60’s he is one of the most important pop producers. His fascinating life has been described in the 2007 book “The Autobiography: Bowie, Bolan and the Brooklyn Boy”. The artist, who now again lives in New York, doesn’t think about quitting. This year the legend produced “Emily’s D + Evolution” for the jazz bassist Esperanza Spalding and mixed “Optimist in Black” for the brewery-heiress and actress Daphne Guinness.
